1) Where is Los Cabos?
Los Cabos is located in the Mexican State of Baja California Sur at the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula. Los Cabos (in English, The Capes) is the area, which includes the two towns of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. Cabo San Lucas is approximately 1,000 miles south of San Diego, California, 10 degrees below the Tropic of Cancer at a latitude of 22 degrees. If you are thinking about driving from San Diego, give yourself at least two days drive time.

2) What time zone is Los Cabos in?
Los Cabos and Baja California Sur are in the Mountain Time zone. The time changes whenever the Mountain Time changes for Daylight Savings Time.

3) How far are San Jose and Cabo San Lucas from the Airport?
San Jose is roughly 14 kilometers (8 miles) and a 15 minute drive from the airport. Cabo San Lucas is 44 kilometers (27 miles) and approximately a 45 minute drive.

4) What is the best way to get from the Airport to San Jose and Cabo San Lucas?
Transportation services can be arranged for you through Los Cabos At Your Service (www.loscabosatyourservice.com). 7, 10 and 14 passenger vans are available for airport transfers. Los Cabos At Your Service also offers private limousines and Cadillac Escalades. Taxis and shuttle buses are available at the airport. Always settle on the price if you select to travel by taxi before allowing the driver to load your belongings. Shuttle buses often include time share presentations and stop at all destinations along the way.

5) Do I need to rent a car?
That depends on the location of your villa and your personal plans. Renting a car is convenient for shopping and site seeing. We can arrange a car rental for you through Los Cabos At Your Service (www.loscabosatyourservice.com).

6) What are the taxi rates?
It is hard to estimate an exact amount. It depends on where you are traveling. Always settle on the price if you select to travel by taxi before getting into the vehicle.

7) What do I need to drive in Cabo?
No special permits are needed. Your U.S. /CDN drivers' license is all that is required, unless you plan to continue on to Mexico's mainland. Be sure to get Mexican insurance before crossing the border. Your U.S. insurance is not valid in Mexico. Do not drive in Mexico without Mexican insurance. If you rent a car they will provide this insurance for you at an additional cost or you can purchase an all inclusive travel insurance package through Sunshine Villas and Condos which includes Collision Damage Waiver insurance (CDW).

8) Can I drink the water in Cabo?
In most of our and resorts the water is purified. However, any change in drinking water can cause stomach problems. We highly recommend drinking only bottled water.

9) Where can I get groceries?
The best places to get groceries are Costco, CCC and Sorianas. Walking into Costco in Cabo is like walking into any Costco in the U.S. Remember to bring your membership card. You can find the Costco on the Transpenisular Highway just outside of Cabo San Lucas. CCC is the equivalent of any grocery store in the U.S. and Sorianas is the equivalent of a Wal-Mart Super Center. CCC and Sorianas are located within 2 blocks of each other on the road to La Paz. There is also a Sorianas in San Jose del Cabo.

10) Do I need to convert my money into Mexican Pesos?
U.S. dollars are accepted nearly everywhere in Los Cabos. We recommend only exchanging the money that you plan to spend; it is hard to convert pesos back into dollars and it is expensive. It is always helpful to have some pesos with you, especially if you are away from the main tourist areas.

11) What credit cards can I use?
VISA and MASTERCARD are most widely accepted in Los Cabos. American Express is accepted in a few stores and restaurants. Discover Card is not yet accepted.

12) Can I use my bank card in Cabo?
There are ATM machines throughout Los Cabos where you can take money out. Please note that you will receive your money in Pesos, except in a small number of ATMs that provide you with a choice. Ensure your bank card PIN is only 4 characters, as required for all International Transactions. Your PIN can be changed at your Financial Institution.

13) Will my cell phone work in Cabo?
It is best to speak to your cell phone provider for information on using your phone in Los Cabos. Many cell phone providers can "activate" you phone for use in Mexico. Los Cabos At Your Service (www.loscabosatyourservice.com) offers cell phones for rent if you do not want to take any chances.

14) How can my family in the United States reach me in Cabo?

15) Do I need to speak Spanish in Los Cabos?
Most people in Los Cabos are bilingual. However, if you would like to try out your Spanish, your efforts will be appreciated.

Can you give me information about hospitals and doctors?
Both San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas are relatively small towns and while there are numerous clinics and hospices no hospital is equipped to handle severe trauma cases. The medical clinics charge for their services. We strongly recommend that you purchase medical insurance before your visit. Sunshine Villas and Condos offers comprehensive medical coverage which includes medivac (air transport) services.

17) What documents do I need to bring when I travel to Cabo San Lucas?
A valid passport or a birth certificate with a photo ID is required for all US and Canadian Citizens. Foreign citizens should check with the appropriate consulates.

19) Is it safe to walk around Cabo at Night?
It is very safe to walk around at night. There is very little crime in Los Cabos compared to the United States. Always use your common sense and be careful.

20) What is the night life like in Cabo?
There are many local hotspots in Cabo. Favorites include the Giggling Marlin, El Squid Roe and Cabo Wabo, which is made famous by Sammy Hagar of Van Halen.

21) Tell me about deep-sea fishing?
Sport fishing put Cabo San Lucas on the map! There are hundreds of species of fish that can be found in the waters of Los Cabos. The most popular are Marlin, Dorado and Yellow Fin Tuna. We recommend you contact Los Cabos At Your Service for more details.

22) Are the beaches safe for swimming?
Some are and some aren't. Always exercise caution. The beaches on the pacific side can be very dangerous, especially in the summer with the undertow. The main beaches in Cabo, Medano Beach and Lover's Beach (bay side only) are the safest places to swim. The bays of Chileno and Santa Maria are usually safe, but be careful if there are swells (usually in the summer). There are no Lifeguards in Cabo, so use your best judgment and always swim with a friend.

23) What golf courses do you recommend?
There are four public golf courses in Los Cabos. Cabo del Sol Ocean, Cabo del Sol Desert, Palmilla and Cabo Real. Contact Los Cabos At Your Service for rates, tee times, and bookings.

24) When will I receive my confirmation documents?
A 50% deposit is taken at the time of booking and deposit confirmation is sent within the week following. Your final payment will be charged 45 days prior to your departure day and again, will be mailed within the week following.

25) Where can I scuba dive in Los Cabos?
There are many wonderful places to scuba dive in Los Cabos. Cabo Pulmo is a favorite which has the only living reef in Baja California. Dive among the black coral at Gordo Banks, the sand falls discovered by Jacques Cousteau in Cabo San Lucas and the Sea Lion Colony in La Paz. Scuba diving tours are available to all these fabulous scuba diving areas.
