The local waters of Cabo San Lucas are host to a large variety of fish making it one of the richest sport fishing areas in the world. It is no surprise then that the area is known as the "Marlin Capital of the World". The prime body of water, the Gulf of California (aka. Sea of Cortez), is a rich ecosystem, supporting more marine life than any other body of water on earth. Over 800 species of marine vertebrates and 2,000 invertebrates make their home in this narrow sea.
More importantly, there is an abundance of game and commercial fishing. Fish for Black, Blue, Striped Marlin, Swordfish, Sailfish, Wahoo, Tuna, Dorado, Roosterfish, Shark and many other species.
Excellent year round fishing and sunshine make this a premier fishing destination. Cabo San Lucas also has the largest Marlin tournament in the world, with a $1,000,000 jackpot.
